Before human settlement in Bukit Lawang began in the 1960s, animals that already lived there and in Gunung Leuser National became native inhabitants. Animals have been present in the core area and the buffer zones that are now human settlements since the beginning, and those who came here transformed the area into houses, hotels, inns, bungalows, guesthouses, shops, and gardens. there has to be a complex understanding that expected will be able to create reasonable and acceptable public opinion that we must be willing to share our space and our time with animals surrounding Bukit Lawang.
The protection of Indonesia’s biodiversity is threatened by illegal wildlife trade. The prevalence of this wildlife trade activity might result in scarcity, ecosystem imbalance, and even the extinction of some species, given the significance of wild animals in maintaining the integrity of the ecosystem. The spreading of zoonotic diseases and being transmitted are just another serious danger posed by the wildlife trade. As a local migration route for animals from the main area of Gunung Leuser National Park, Bukit Lawang is a village that has to be safeguarded from this threat.
