Human–Wildlife Conflict Management

SUMECO is an animal welfare organization; in responding to human-wildlife (such as primates, eagles, tigers, snakes) conflict cases we have developed a stakeholder engagement strategy that involves fit-for-purpose dissemination of information and incentives to prevent retaliation and encourage protection of the animal. SUMECO has been successful in converting several potential retaliators into wildlife advocates and informants within the local community. SUMECO regularly team up with Gunung Leuser National Park on the appropriate measures to mitigate human-wildlife conflict situations.
